Nollywood’s latest film, Aso Ebi Diaries premiered in grand style at Lagos’ Jewel Aeida event venue bringing together top celebrities, fashion icons and movie enthusiasts. Produced by Laide Daramola and directed by Biodun Stephen, the film explores the vibrant aso ebi culture, while weaving a tale of love, friendship and tradition.
The red carpet was a dazzling display of bespoke aso ebi outfits with producer Laide Daramola stealing the spotlight in a custom Shadiat Aso Oke ensemble complemented by jewellery from The Coral Factory and accessories from Pink Perfection.
Scheduled for nationwide release on April 18 and in Ghana just in time for Easter celebrations Aso Ebi Diaries, a 120-minute cultural movement distributed by Cinemax Nigeria Limited, features an all-star cast including Shaffy Bello, Bukky Wright, Nancy Isime, Kunle Remi and Daniel Etim Effiong, among others.
Directed by acclaimed filmmaker Biodun Stephen, the story unfolds in modern-day Lagos blending drama, romance and the deep-rooted traditions of aso ebi.
At its core, Aso Ebi Diaries is a heartfelt narrative about unity and resilience. The film follows a group of friends and family navigating love, betrayal and societal expectations all while showcasing Nigeria’s rich fashion heritage.
Daramola describes it as “a movement for our culture, our people and our shared identity”.
With a compelling script by Frances Okeke and production by Lady Laide Studios the movie has garnered support from major brands like Bet9ja, Indomie and Chivita, reinforcing its cultural significance.
