Artmiabo International Art Festival 2024 to celebrate artistic excellence and cultural heritage

As the final countdown to the 2024 edition of the Artmiabo International Art Festival (AMIAF) begins, art enthusiasts, collectors and aficionados from around the world are gearing up for an unforgettable celebration of artistic excellence and cultural heritage.

Scheduled to take place from April 29th to May 1st at Ebonylife Place, Victoria Island, Lagos, Nigeria, this year’s festival, which holds around the theme, “Sculptors Odyssey,” promises to be an exhilarating experience, featuring a diverse range of artistic expressions, thought-provoking discussions and insightful exhibitions.

The festival promises a vibrant experience, featuring musical performances by the renowned Mádé Kuti and upcoming artiste Jikume Bethlehem.

One of the highlights of this year’s festival is the inclusion of four exceptionally talented young sculptors who have been selected to exhibit alongside experienced artists in the field. The AMIAF2024 Slot for Young Sculptors provides a unique opportunity for emerging artists to showcase their talent, gain exposure and receive well-deserved recognition for their work. This initiative underscores AMIAF’s commitment to nurturing and promoting young talent within the Nigerian art ecosystem.

In line with this year’s theme, Sculptors Odyssey, AMIAF 2024 will host a thought-provoking panel discussion on the art economy and its significance within the Nigerian art ecosystem. The panel, comprised of industry experts from diverse backgrounds, will explore various aspects of the art economy, including media strategy, art investment, the impact of the Nigerian economy on art development and effective marketing techniques for artists.

Emeka Enyadike, a seasoned sports executive media strategist and international football pundit, will share insights from his extensive experience in marketing and management, offering valuable advice on how Nigerian artists can gain global recognition.

Omooba Engr Adedoyin Yemisi Shiloh, one of Africa’s foremost art collectors and entrepreneurs, will discuss the importance of Nigerian art and artists in the global economy, drawing from her vast collection of African art.

Mr. Matthew Oyedele, a young and knowledgeable art historian, artist, curator and art critic, will shed light on the relationship between the Nigerian economy and the sustainability of art development in Nigeria and beyond.

Finally, Mr. Dotun Popoola will present a compelling pitch deck on the “4 Ps of Marketing” as it relates to fine art, emphasising the importance of packaging, price, presentation and place in attracting the right global audience for artists.

In addition to the panel discussion, AMIAF 2024 will feature a screening of the “Wheyham Documentary,” curated by Yahaya Maikori and Nze Ed Keazor. The documentary explores the rich history of the NOK civilisation, offering festival attendees a fascinating glimpse into Nigeria’s sculpture heritage.
