Film enthusiasts in Lagos are in for an unforgettable cinematic experience as Film Club 2.0 is set to take off on Saturday, August 24. The highly anticipated event, according to the organisers, promises to be a paradise for movie buffs, with a lineup that includes games, networking opportunities, and of course, exclusive film screenings.
Two films, Ijo and Festival of Slaps, are set to steal the show at this year’s event.
A Nollywood film, Ijo tells the story of a man who discovers the healing power of dance after a painful breakup. Written and directed by Fatimah Binta Gimsay and starring Genoveva Umeh and Charles Etubiebi, the film has already garnered international acclaim, winning the Best Romance Film award at the Couch Film Festival in Canada.
The Festival of Slaps on the other hand, is a short film that offers a humorous take on the dynamics of Pan African parenting. Directed by Abdou Cissé and produced by Cheri Darbon and George Telfer, Festival of Slaps follows a Nigerian mother whose life-changing reprimand becomes the stuff of legend.
With registration for Film Club 2.0 closing soon, this is the last chance for film lovers to secure their spot.
The event will kick off at 2pm in Yaba, Lagos, with the full address provided upon registration here.
It is a unique opportunity to connect with fellow film enthusiasts and experience the magic of Nigerian cinema.
