Akeem Lasisi & Edaoto unveil joyful ‘Orere’ video

Akeem Lasisi has once again brought his artistry to the forefront, collaborating with Edaoto for the release of their vibrant new video, ‘Orere.’ This visually rich production accompanies the title track from the renowned performance poet and journalist’s recently launched 2024 album, Òrèrè: A Gift of Poems.

Filmed across several dedicated attempts in the dynamic cities of Lagos and Ibadan, the “Orere” video is a celebration of poetic expression. Akeem Lasisi describes the creation as “pregnant with fun, memories and the joy of giving poetry a human face.” It promises a captivating visual journey that encapsulates the essence of the poem.

While the “Orere” video showcases the lighter, more celebratory side of Lasisi’s work, his album, Òrèrè: A Gift of Poems, also contains deeper, more reflective pieces. Notably, the album features the powerful track “Ẹyẹ Ìgbò: For Chibok Girls,” which video was released earlier in the year. This significant piece serves as a poignant reminder of the innocent schoolgirls abducted from Chibok, Borno State, on April 14, 2014.

While the other exciting videos of the poet who is also a seasoned journalist and publisher of Phenomenal.com.ng include “Eleleture” and “Udeme,” he is also the author of IREMOJE: Ritual Poetry for Ken Saro-Wiwa and ekun iyawo (Yoruba bridal poetry)-styled Night of my Flight, both of which are winners of the ANA-Cadbury Poetry Prize.

The collaboration with Edaoto on “Orere” is a memorable fusion of talent, delivering a fresh and engaging experience that testifies to the versatility and depth of Akeem Lasisi’s poetic journey.
