Aspiring writers across the country are being offered a rare opportunity to hone their craft at no cost, as the acclaimed Aiye-ko-ooto Creative Writing Masterclass 2.0 opens its doors at Freedom Park, Lagos Island.
The intensive four-day workshop, themed “Story Themes and Structure,” will run in two sessions to accommodate demand: Batch A from February 20–23 and Batch B from February 25–28. While attendance remains entirely free, prospective participants must register promptly, as spaces are strictly limited.

Leading the masterclass is Cash Onadele (Aiye-ko-ooto), a distinguished Nigerian-American playwright, poet and producer whose portfolio spans more than 118 published works across poetry, drama, fiction, screenwriting and young adult literature. Revered as a culture-aware philosopher and literary mentor, Onadele has built a reputation for weaving indigenous African storytelling traditions with contemporary narrative techniques.
According to a statement, the workshop aims to equip delegates with practical tools for developing compelling story concepts, structuring narratives effectively and navigating the path to publication.
Beyond technical instruction, participants will receive complimentary course materials, guided writing exercises and direct mentorship from an established figure in the literary world.
The initiative, said the statement, aligns with the Federal Government’s Renewed Hope Agenda whilst bolstering literacy, creativity and sustainable livelihoods within Nigeria’s burgeoning creative economy. By positioning storytelling as both artistic expression and vocational skill, the programme seeks to cultivate voices capable of shaping literature, theatre, film, television and cultural heritage preservation.
