The Guest Artists Space (G.A.S.) Foundation is set to host “AfterImages,” a compelling three-day programme of film installations and screenings from June 19–21 at G.A.S. Lagos. Curated by Monangambee, this exhibition culminates the “Art Exchange: Moving Image” programme, a collaborative effort by LUX, Yinka Shonibare Foundation, and G.A.S. Foundation, backed by the British Council.
The dynamic project delves into the coloniality embedded in archival moving images, shining a light on Cameroonian and broader Global South cinemas. “AfterImages” will feature screenings and installations by artists like Erika Tan, Goddy Leye and Jean-Pierre Dikongué-Pipa. A key highlight includes a conversation with Monangambee curators and Dr. Tinase Mushakavanhu, exploring the aesthetic and political implications of archival cinema.
This event, according to a statement, promises to deepen engagement with critical curatorial and archival questions.
