In a night of triumphs and historic moments, the 77th Primetime Emmy Awards saw Owen Cooper, the 15-year-old star of the Netflix miniseries Adolescence, become the youngest-ever male Emmy winner for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Limited or Anthology Series, per movieweb.com. Cooper’s win was part of a dominant performance by Adolescence, a psychological drama that took home a total of six trophies, including the coveted award for Outstanding Limited or Anthology Series.
The ceremony, held at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles, also celebrated the comedy series The Studio, which secured four Emmy wins, including Outstanding Comedy Series and Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series for its star and co-creator, Seth Rogen.
In a major upset, the medical drama The Pitt beat out critical darlings Severance and The White Lotus for Outstanding Drama Series. The show’s lead, Noah Wyle, also secured the Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series, marking his first win in 26 years since his days on ER.
Severance did not go home empty-handed, with stars Britt Lower and Trammell Tillman both winning for their performances. The Penguin also had a significant night, with Cristin Milioti winning for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Limited or Anthology Series.
