After years of development delays, the film adaptation of Paul Tremblay’s 2015 Bram Stoker Award-winning novel, A Head Full of Ghosts, is officially moving into production, according to bookriot.com.
The psychological thriller follows the Barretts, a suburban family struggling as 14-year-old Marjorie descends into a mysterious mental health crisis. When medical science fails, the family turns to a reality TV show, The Possession, to document a desperate attempt at an exorcism.

The project has seen several high-profile directors attached over the years, including Osgood Perkins and Scott Cooper. However, the film is now set to proceed under the direction of Veronika Franz and Severin Fiala, the duo behind the chilling Austrian hit Goodnight Mommy.
Principal photography is scheduled to begin this month. The production features a powerhouse backing from Robert Downey Jr’s Team Downey, The Allegiance Theater and Fifth Season, with Lionsgate handling distribution. The cast is also taking shape, with David Harbour, Rebecca Hall and Esmé Creed-Miles in final negotiations for lead roles.
Author Paul Tremblay expressed his enthusiasm on social media, stating: “I’ve read the screenplay; it’s wild, and I love it. I can’t wait to see Franz and Fiala put it all on screen.”
With its unique blend of social commentary and supernatural dread, the adaptation is poised to be one of the most anticipated horror releases of the coming year.
