Students from two prestigious PASCH schools will join forces with the renowned VESTA Orchestra and Opera Foundation for an unprecedented concert in Lagos in a landmark musical event showcasing the convergence of European and African classical traditions.
The performance, titled “Harmony Across Cultures: A Fusion of German and Nigerian Classical Music,” will feature talented young musicians from Corona Secondary School, Agbara and British International School, Lagos. The concert, scheduled for November 22, at the British International School Lagos, promises to be a celebration of cultural unity and musical excellence.
“This unique collaboration demonstrates the transformative power of music education in building bridges across cultures,” says a letter of invitation by Moses A. Ayankunle from Goethe-Institut Nigeria, the organising body behind this initiative. The event not only showcases young talent but also supports a noble cause: expanding access to music education for students across Lagos.
The VESTA Orchestra and Opera Foundation, one of Nigeria’s foremost orchestras, will perform alongside the students, creating an intergenerational dialogue through music. This collaboration underscores the Goethe-Institut’s commitment to fostering cultural exchange and supporting arts education in Nigeria.
The event begins at 5 pm, with doors opening at 4:45 pm. Interested attendees can secure their tickets through tix.africa/hac. RSVP is required by November 20, 2024, for this exclusive cultural celebration that promises to be an unforgettable evening of harmony and cross-cultural artistic expression.
