Emeka Mba to speak at Nollywood Studies Centre’s Filmmakers’ Forum

The Nollywood Studies Centre of the School of Media and Communication, Pan Atlantic University will host an exclusive Filmmakers’ Forum featuring media and entertainment professional, Mr Emeka Mba on Saturday, July 27.

The event, a cloud HD video meeting, is set to take place from 11am to 12:30pm and promises to be a rich, engaging session for attendees. 

Mba’s illustrious career spans nearly three decades, marked by significant contributions to media, entertainment, technology, and regulatory policy management. Mba began his journey in 1996 with Multichoice Nigeria Limited as the Content and Regulatory Affairs Manager. Here, he was instrumental in launching the “AfricaMagic” channel on DStv, developing local programming policies, and managing content acquisition. His leadership facilitated the deployment of wireless cable platforms in Lagos, Port Harcourt, and Onitsha, and he was pivotal in integrating local Nigerian Free to Air broadcasters on the Multichoice DStv platform.

In 2005, Mba was appointed director general of the National Film and Video Censors Board (NFVCB), where he served until 2012. His tenure saw the transformation of the NFVCB from a regulatory body to a catalyst for international growth within the entertainment industry. Following this, Mba took on the role of director general at the Nigerian Broadcasting Commission (NBC), driving significant changes to support local content and maintain high broadcasting standards. One of his notable achievements was the successful transition from analog to digital broadcasting, a milestone for Nigeria’s media landscape.

Currently, Mba is the CEO of Afia TV, a leading indigenous TV channel in Southeastern Nigeria. His expertise in media trends and emerging technologies continues to shape the industry, as he mentors young talent and advocates for the development of indigenous content and the innovative use of technology.
