Sprinng, an organisation dedicated to fostering creativity and mentorship, announces the launch of its annual Sprinng Writing Fellowship (SWF). The fellowship, now in its seventh year, according to a statement, aims to provide aspiring writers from Nigeria, Ghana, Liberia and South Africa with the tools and guidance needed to hone their craft and kickstart their literary careers.
The SWF is a six-week online mentorship programme, scheduled to run from June 1 to July 15, designed for writers between the ages of 18 and 25 who have not yet published a book, whether in eBook or hardcopy format. With a focus on six genres of literature including Poetry, Fiction, Non-Fiction, Book Review, Play/Drama and Blogging, the fellowship offers participants a comprehensive learning experience tailored to their individual interests and aspirations.
Throughout the programme, mentees will have the opportunity to work closely with experienced mentors, engaging in constructive dialogue and receiving feedback on their work via various communication channels such as email, phone calls, WhatsApp and text messages. Additionally, all selected mentees will receive weekly airtime allowances to facilitate seamless interaction with their mentors and support their participation.
Oyindamola Shoola, Co-founder and CEO of Sprinng, expressed enthusiasm about the fellowship’s potential to empower young writers and foster a vibrant literary community across the continent. “The Sprinng Writing Fellowship serves as a platform for nurturing the next generation of African literary voices,” said Shoola. “We are committed to providing aspiring writers with the guidance, resources, and encouragement they need to flourish in their creative endeavors.”
