Britney Spears emphatically quashed swirling rumours about a new album in a candid Instagram post on Wednesday. The 42-year-old singer and actress declared that she will “never” make a return to the music industry, dismissing reports linking her to a collaboration with Julia Michaels and Charli XCX.
Setting the record straight, Spears denounced the speculations, asserting, “Just so we’re clear, most of the news is trash!!! They keep saying I’m turning to random people to do a new album… I will never return to the music industry!!!”
She further revealed her recent venture as a ghostwriter, disclosing that she has penned over 20 songs for others in the past two years.
“When I write, I write for fun or I write for other people!!! For those of you who have read my book, there’s loads that you don’t know about me… I’ve written over 20 songs for other people the past two years!!! I’m a ghostwriter and I honestly enjoy it that way!!!” she explained in her post.
Addressing additional claims, Spears refuted allegations that her memoir, The Woman in Me, was released without her approval, vehemently stating, “People are also saying MY BOOK WAS RELEASED WITHOUT MY APPROVAL ILLEGALLY, and that’s far from the truth… have you read the news these days??? I’m so LOVED and blessed!!!”
Despite recent collaborations, including singles with Elton John and will.i.am, Spears remains firm in her decision to step away from her own music career, reinforcing her commitment to ghostwriting and other creative pursuits.
