The fourth edition of the Beeta Arts Festival is set to transform Abuja into a dynamic cultural hub from December 4 to 8 under the compelling theme “WE ARE HERE.”
Founded by award-winning actress Bikiya Graham-Douglas, the festival emerges as a powerful platform amplifying diverse African voices and fostering cross-border artistic collaboration.
This year’s edition will feature an eclectic mix of performances, including stage plays from renowned directors like Olarotimi Fakunle, Lyndsey Efejuku, Tony Edet (Thin Tall Tony) and powerful performances from actors such as Chinonso Young, Habiba Zock-Sock and Ame Aiyejina. The festival’s programming extends beyond traditional performances, incorporating film screenings from six African countries: Nigeria, Morocco, Ghana, Tunisia, Kenya and Namibia.
A standout initiative this year is the “FilmmakHer Workshop,” a collaborative effort with FemBud and supported by the US Embassy in Nigeria and Global Media Makers. The workshop specifically focuses on empowering Northern women filmmakers, providing critical training and networking opportunities that could transform emerging talents’ career trajectories. Founded by Priye Diri, this initiative is providing training and networking opportunities, including panel discussions, “Spotlight In Conversation” sessions, and other engaging virtual and physical workshops to foster global interaction and exchange.
“The theme ‘WE ARE HERE’ is more than a slogan—it’s a declaration,” Graham-Douglas explained. “We’re not just participating in the global arts conversation; we’re leading it. This festival demonstrates that African creativity is a formidable force shaping the future of global arts.”
The festival’s commitment to artistic development is evident in its multifaceted approach. By offering workshops, panel discussions, art exhibitions and a festival market, the Beeta Arts Festival creates an immersive environment for artists to showcase their work, engage in meaningful dialogues and expand their professional networks.
Hosted at the Abuja Continental Hotel, the event has attracted significant sponsorship from corporate entities like Chairborne Global Services and Century Group, underlining the growing recognition of arts as a critical cultural and economic driver.
Tickets are now available on the festival’s website, inviting art enthusiasts, industry professionals, and cultural explorers to be part of this transformative experience.
